B&B's Helpful Hints

It is important that we address any questions or concerns that you may have, as well as to give you helpful information before and after the installation.   Please read through the following information, and call us with any questions you may have.

BEFORE YOUR INSTALLATION:

  • At B&B Carpet we encourage customers to move ALL their furniture.  Rooms should be clear of furniture and breakables at the time of installation.  Depending upon which room we are installing, it may be necessary for you to remove home entertainment equipment, disconnect your cable from your television or drain your aquarium.  In cases where we need to help, we charge a nominal fee.  We do this as a courtesy to our customers, but we can not take any responsibility for any damage.  Please move all breakables and any pieces of furniture you feel are fragile, as well as wall hangings that could possibly be bumped or otherwise damaged.  We may not be able to move some furniture and you may need to call a professional to move it for you.  Example: slate pool tables, grand pianos.

  • Our installation crews are careful and considerate professionals, but modern carpet stretching tools often come in contact with baseboards and woodwork.  If you're planning to paint the room, or varnish or paint the woodwork, do the work two to three weeks prior to installation.  Paint and varnish take a couple of weeks to thoroughly dry and harden.  Your touch-up work will be minimized if you plan ahead.

  • Depending on the pile height of the carpet, or thickness of the wood or ceramic flooring you've selected, you may need to trim the bottom edge of some doors.  You can wait until after the installation to see how much trimming is required.  We do not trim doors.

  • Your present carpet and pad will have to be removed and disposed of prior to your installation.  You do not need to remove the tack strip beneath your carpet.  If you will not be able to remove and dispose of your present carpet yourself, please let your salesperson know in advance.  Our installation crew can do it for you, but there is an additional charge for this service.
  • Our installers are professionals in their particular area of expertise.  They are not certified to remove any plumbing fixtures (toilets), gas lines, or water lines to refrigerators.  Please contact and schedule professionals in these areas prior to installation.
  • Unforeseen structural problems upon installation may change the cost of your invoice.  Additional charges apply for floor prep needed for a professional installation.  We will make every effort to address these issues during the measuring and bidding process.
  • We guarantee all of our installation workmanship.  So you can be comfortable knowing you will receive the very best installation available.

AFTER YOUR INSTALLATION:

  • Payment for services is due upon completion of the installation, unless you have arranged financing for your purchase.  You may call us with a credit card to make your payment if you desire.
    • Depending upon the texture of your carpet, you may notice roll crush marks.  Your carpet was rolled tightly at the mill, and it has been shipped, stacked and stored.  It needs time and a little humidity to relax.  This also applies to carpet seams.  Initially they could be noticeable.  In time they will relax and blend in.  We do our best but seams are not invisible.  Some carpets may show seams more than others.
    • Some carpets shed when first vacuumed.  This shedding is anticipated by the manufacturer and is nothing to be concerned about.  Once you have vacuumed out the excess piles, your carpet will look and wear just fine.

    • Wood floors need consistant 40-60% humidity

    • Grout needs 24 hours to dry

    • Vinyl floors should not have large appliances moved on to them for at least 24 hrs.

    • We carry a full line of hard surface and carpet cleaners and sealers
